2003 - current

National Australia Bank

Engaged by NAB’s Infrastructure Technology group to re-engineer their business engagement and project management processes. Defined a number of key frameworks:

·        Portfolio Management Framework

·        Program Management Framework

·        Project Management Framework

Conducted a number of awareness sessions with senior management, and ran a number of Leadership Workshops with project managers and project directors.

This program was so successful it is being presented at the PMI’s European Project Management Conference in May 2006 as a case study in how to rapidly build project management capability in a large, complex organisation.


2002 - current

Westpac

Worked with Group Project Management in defining and setting up the professional competency programme for all project managers and project directors across Westpac (business and IT). Coached Project Directors and Senior Project Managers.


2003 - current

QBE

Engaged by QBE’s executive management committee to shape and help run a Project Management Capability Program, designed to totally overhaul project management standards and practices right across the organisation. Designed and delivered a number of training programs.

Designed and delivered a ‘Technology Awareness for Senior Managers’ program


2005 - current

AAPT

Designed and ran a Project Governance Capability Development Program, designed to raise the awareness and improve the practice of all managers at AAPT taking on a project and program governance role. As part of this program, defined a set of governance standards, stage gating processes and project and steering committee reports.


2000 - current

Zurich Financial Services

Reviewed current management practice and defined an improvement program designed to improve capabilities in Project and Program Management necessary for the size and complexity of planned projects.


2000 Network Design and Construction (Telstra) Defined a project-based organisation structure (including all roles and accountabilities) suitable for NDC’s rapid-response mobile base-station roll-out division (currently rolling out One-Tel’s mobile network). This required defining a high-level methodology (including a Work Breakdown Structure). This assignment was seen as critical for NDC being prepared for full privatisation.

1999 – Current ipac securities limited Developed a Program and Project Management framework. Specified a procedure for identifying and prioritising business initiatives. Carried out a Program & Project Management Training program. On going role.

1999 – Current University of Sydney Conducted a review of IT management and current strategy. Developed frameworks in Technology Management and Program and Project Management. Developed a Business Plan for the University’s Intranet / Internet & distributed learning strategy. Implemented a Project Management Method across technology projects. Assisted in the establishment of the University’s technology ventures arm. Currently managing the University’s commercial e-learning Program. Course convenor of the Masters Program in Project Management

1999 IBMGSA Developed and implemented an Estimation Methodology for IBMGSA’s large account projects (in particular, Telstra).
1999 Financial Network Services FNS is a developer and vendor of banking systems world-wide. Developed and implemented the FNS Project Management Methodology.

1999 –Current Salomon, Smith, Barney Conducted an organisation-wide Project Management Program which covered specifying a Project Management Framework, running workshops and consulting directly to projects. Specified and implemented a method in business and technology planning.

1999 - current SPL WorldGroup Consulting SPL is a world-wide IT Consultancy with over 1,000 consultants working in 10 countries. Developed and implemented SPL’s Project Management Methodology and travelled extensively training project managers and consulting to projects.

1998 Mercantile Mutual Consulting to the Insurance and Delivery Divisions. Carried out a Quality Review of a Core System Replacement project. Acted as Project Adviser to various projects.

1997 Princeton University, New Jersey USA Invited by Princeton’s ‘Program 2000’ to conduct a Best Practice in Project Management Workshop for business and IT management personnel.

1995 - Current BT Financial Group (formerly Bankers Trust) Various assignments. Set up and ran Project Management Programs for the Portfolio Services Division, Asset Management Technology, Australian Funds Management Technology, Investment Bank Technology and Bankwide Technology Services. Continues in an on-going mentoring role to various programs, technology & business groups throughout BT.

1997 - 1998 Macquarie Bank Set and conducted a Bank-wide Project Management Program, consulting to business and technology projects and running Project Management Workshops and carrying out project reviews.

1996 - 1998 St George Bank Set up and conducted a Bank-wide Project Management Program, writing a PM Handbook and running over 20 Project Management Workshops.

1994 Telstra Working with the General Manager of the division, assisted in the set up of Telstra’s Corporate Program Office.

1993 - 1995 Telstra Project Adviser and then Project Manager of a Core Systems Integration Project (250 effort month project).

1991 -1992 Telstra Set up and ran a ‘Best Practice in Project Management’ Program for all technology divisions and a number of business divisions. Developed a Project Management Handbook for use on all technology projects.
